Plenty of cheap rooms to be had downtown but the cab fare will kill ya.

I love Excalibur - it's [usually] cheap, a bed, a shower and a place to change. That's all we need.

Circus Circus is EVIL EVIL EVIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They have CLOWNS! /sob!!!!!

There are few casinos in the middle that might prove cost-effective, though their prime location in the center of the strip might make them more expensive. Not to mention there's a big clown head outside of one of them (Boardwalk) and we both know how you feel about him.

Problem with our standard digs is the price. $130 for Excalibur (and Hooters). We may stay there just to make my friend happy (but it's off the Strip and I dunno how close it is to walk).

NO CLOWNS!!!!!!!!!!!! /runs away sobbing

The monorail helps with that.

There are also lots of good options just off the strip.

The monorail is an option but by the time we factor in the cost of the monorail (or cabs) it will cost just as much to stay on the strip.

The Sahara's on the strip, just all the way at the north end. Generally you wouldn't need the monorail, but if you're at, say the Luxor and need to make it back to the Sahara, it's a good option. Of course, the last time I needed to do that, I just hopped on a bus for $1 (somehow I doubt they're still $1).

hate....H A T E Circus Circus. Always have. tacky to the nth degree.

Excalibur. yeah, I liked that. also did pretty well there.

My problem with Excalibur basically boils down to two things: not really any good food options and just a little too family oriented. I'm a bit more old school when it comes to the latter.

agree, but fortunately, as of last time I checked, they dont lock you in once you arrive. so the search for depravity can carry on as always

I don't care much for it because of all of the hotels I have stayed in, they are the only one who doesn't have an in room safe.

You're saying that you are allowed to leave the hotel you are staying at? C'mon, now you are just making things up.
