We're driving but we like to park and walk. Normally we stay at the Monte Carlo, Excalibur or at a Hampton off the strip. The time we stayed at the Hampton Inn we had to drive back because their shuttle sucked. - no fun. I'm just shocked at the rates for when we are looking at going. There isn't a convention or anything in town, it's just an expensive weekend.

You know what's fun? Going to a regional event and spotting some people from your local group and approaching them to say hi - and having them make eye contact and quickly look away and turn their back toward you in the universal sign for "I don't want to be seen talking to you."

Oh wait, that's not fun at all.

When faced with that situation (thankfully not that often), I go out of my way to make sure I talk to that person. Preferrably by joining a group discussion that the offensive offending person is involved in.

It's also fun to ask them if their herpes flare up has calmed down...

You would know yourself what happened in this case but...

I have to say, I think sometimes if you aren't expecting to see someone somewhere you may not register them.

Maybe these people aren't so sharp?

Either way, don't take it personally. Who needs 'em right? You got me!!

Who the hell am I? I am MouseWife!! That's who! :D

{oh man, I must be overloaded with caffiene or something....I am not usually so bold :blush: }

I've definitely done this - not recognize someone outside their normal context. I went to a friend's party recently and someone I know from work was there and through most of the evening I just kept thinking to myself, "dang she looks familiar" - it wasn't until she came up to that I put two and two together and finally recognized who she was.

This happened to me at Disneyland back in December. We were in the *spot* for fireworks and I saw someone who looked really familar. Made eye contact and I turned away, looked back and was like who is she, I know her. Took about 5 minutes and I realized it was a co-worker.

In this case, it was a kingdom-wide SCA event and the people involved are members of an SCA singing group in which I have participated for about 8 years, and prior to the event we had a "who's going to be there" roll call on-line. And we were supposed to meet up at some point during the weekend for a group sing. So I rather doubt the "not expecting" angle in this particular instance.

I'm not going to cry in my Wheaties, or anything, I'm just annoyed.
