Yes, some ap on Facebook kept pestering me to add family members, so I thought I'd add my dad - nice way to organize pics, connect him to his grand children and great grand-children, etc. He doesn't post much though - but hot young women still want to date him.

It first happened on the other side of the floor where I work. Someone put a heart-shaped balloon at each cubicle in Collections and Premium Accounting. We're talking at least 50 I think. Then it spread to Finance and Budgets. It was obviously a ploy by our employee store that sells the things.

Over in my department we don't have so much love. But the cubicle next to me has about eight balloons put there by her boyfriend who is also an employee. And six of the eleven people I work with have birthdays in February so they all have heart balloons at their cubes.

Personally I'm over Valentine's Day. And all the balloons.

Blame it on all the bakers in the field.

It was really bizarre. We had just driven up Mt. Pinos (get it? Valentine's Day at Mt. Penis? Oh, I slay me.) to play in the snow, and once we were done with that we decided to keep exploring. We drove to Bakersfield because we heard it sucks, and as we were descending into the valley there was this really ominous dark haze that almost completely blocked out the sun. It was very creepy, so we didn't stick around - even though there was a Sonic. We headed east on the 58 and ended up at Red Rock State Park for sunset, which was kind of awesome.

Bakersfield isn't that bad, once you get off of the freeway.

I love Red Rock. I used to go there all the time. I haven't been since The Boy was born.

I would drive the Canyon (178) through Lake Isabella, stop at the old cemetery in Onyx (Walker Pass area) and then to Red Rock. It made for a really nice drive.

In college I took a Kern County Geology class. One of our excursions was to Red Rock. Our geo teacher gave us some really neat booklets that mapped out each and every point of intrest on the drive.

It just reminds me that I need to find that book and do some driving with The Boy.
