The caption for this photo was:
"Actor Ryan Phillippe, left, husband of Golden Globe-winning actress Reese Witherspoon, right, gives the victory sign as the couple arrives for the NBC Universal/Focus Features after-party."

Um...

Ryan Phillippe is nothing but a pariah. Reese should dump him and get with Jake. That's what I'd do.
:)

Here's an interesting tidbit:
'Brokeback' made $735,000 yesterday. It was number one for the day. That's the first time it topped all others for a day. It is only in 683 theatres! 'Glory Road' is in 2,222 theatres and only made $693,713. Shamus is a very, very smart man. The Globes gave them a boost...
:)

As of this post, 'BBM' has grossed $32 mil. It only cost them $14 mil to make it. It's in profit land! It also made $1.9 mil overseas. This means the studios are going to think 'gay=profit'. (They won't get it that it's the story that does it...) Get ready for a gay cop movie, a gay fireman movie, gay indian chief movie...

Oh, yeah, that's right! :D

Here's a 'funny' back and forth between Don Imus and Chris Matthews on Imus's show. Yeah... Realllly funny... not.

Quote:

MATTHEWS (1/18/06): Have you gone to see it yet? I’ve seen everything else but that. I just—
IMUS: No, I haven’t seen it. Why would I want to see that?

MATTHEWS: I don’t know. No opinion on that. I haven’t seen it either, so—

IMUS: So they were—it was out when I was in New Mexico and—it doesn’t resonate with real cowboys who I know.

MATTHEWS: Yeah—

IMUS: But then, maybe there’s stuff going on on the ranch that I don’t know about. Not on my ranch, but you know—

MATTHEWS: Well, the wonderful Michael Savage, who’s on 570 in DC, who shares a station with you at least, he calls it [laughter]—what’s he call it?—he calls it Bare-back Mount-ing. That’s his name for the movie.

IMUS: Of course, Bernard calls it Fudgepack Mountain...

Oh yeah, because Imus is such an authentic cowboy. I can't believe he hasn't died yet.

Does Christ Matthews (someone I respect as an intelligent political observer if not maker of good political television) really think Michael Savage is "wonderful"?

I will sit through political talk radio from almost anywhere on the (political and electromagnetic) spectrum but Savage is so repulsive that he is one of two people that will reflexively get me to change stations (the other being Al Franken, but simply because his voice induces in me severe narcolepsy).

Wow. 'BBM' was number one yesterday again for the second time this week. It made $735,000 again. Interesting. I wasn't expecting it to do this well at all. I was expecting it maybe to break even.
I wonder how wide the release will be tomorrow...

Exciting stuff. I think the GG wins did wonders for their numbers.

Gemini Cricket 01-20-2006 05:20 AM

Checking with BoxOfficeMojo.com, I found that BBM is going to 1,194 theatres today from about 680...
