Heather and I talked about the "Why didn't Peter fly?" question. She thinks that at that point, he had completely lost control of his powers, trying to focus on not exploding. I'll buy that.

As far as "the dead stay dead" rule, I'm wondering who you consider dead. Other than the non-super Thompson (Eric Roberts), I think all bets are off. They made it clear that Peter should be able to survive the blast (at least his mother said so to Claire); we never saw Nathan either holding on to or letting go of Peter; Linderman is a healer.

What I really liked about "Volume I" is that it does play like a good comic book arc, or, in TV terms, like a season of Buffy The Vampire Slayer, with one "big bad" per season.

I'm with Heather on why Peter didn't fly.

While things can't come back peachy keen, I do think Peter survived. Also, it seems like the heroes can transfer their power to others by touching them, perhaps Nathan can even heal because Peter was touching him (as I think mp is alluding to). However, Peter's real power is that he's a sponge, so I wonder how that could play off.

Linderman better be dead. You don't get to heal when your brain has been turned into applesauce. That's just my opinion.

Is that right? Didn't he block Parkman's telepathy in the bar before they'd touched? And if it is required, both the Haitian and Peter were at the paper company at jail at the same time following the "save the cheerleader" episode.

So the Haitians true role in things is a mystery. The original invisible man (can't remember his name, trained Peter) is a mystery.

And the way Charles Duveaux was talking it sure felt like the explosion was intended to "save the world" from something much more specific and dangerous than just a general societal malaise. So there is still room for it to turn out that the pro-explosion people really were working towards the overall best result (allowing a more minor tragedy to avoid a much bigger one).

Same here. Now unless it is revealed that Nathan is like Superman (maybe where Claire got her powers) then he should be dead or severely burned. (he did not seem to melt or clothes burn when he grabbed Peter)
Of course, if that turns out to be the case (and from a pure physics standpoint it would have to be to explain how Nathan can withstand the intertial forces achievable with his flying (when he escaped from Linderman's goons in Vegas he went from a dead stop to sonic boom in essentially zero feet), then that means Peter has the same power.

People I consider dead:

Eric Roberts
Isaac
Charles Devereaux
Linderman (since he didn't somewhat immediately heal I expect him to really be dead)
Any of the people killed by Sylar
The Patrelli dad
Mohinder's Dad (though I guess he is in the Sylar category)

Last night was so unbelievably awesome!! :snap: I'm so bummed that I have to wait for Fall to get a brand-new Heroes fix. I saw NBC advertising the DVD set for pre-order. I wonder when it will be released- does anybody here know? I can't wait to purchase it. :)

I also watched the marathon on Sci-Fi all day Saturday. I watched it in the morning. I also watched it in the afternoon. And at night. I woke up for the very last episode at 6:00 A.M. Addicted much?

Ooh! I mentioned earlier in this Thread that Niki was kind of an "eh" character for me. Last night changed all of that. Niki is a total bad-ass that I hope to see more of! :) :snap:

I watched Heroes this morning online, since i actually couldnt watch it last night. Okay, it was a great episode.. I loved how they introduced Vol.2 at the end of the show.

I do think Peter is not dead. Nathan probably threw him in the sky away from him.

Of course Sylar is dead, right? Not.

Is anybody as stoked as I am about Heroes: Origins?!?! 6 episodes premiering this Summer..and we'll get to vote for our newest favorite superhero, who will then appear in Heroes come the Fall season.

I AM SO EXCITED!! :snap:

I'll get my Heroes fix & my American Idol fix by gettin' to vote. Which reminds me, I need to log off and continue voting for Blake. He needs my love. ;)

I'm surprised, most of the people I've spoken about the episode with outside of here have expressed pretty strong disappointment with it.

AllyOops! 05-22-2007 09:32 PM

Did they have any particular complaints? I'm interested in hearing different thoughts and viewpoints!

Underwhelming, somewhat anticlimactic ending. No real payoff.

Pretty much they just seem to feel it ended on a fizzle.

AllyOops! 05-22-2007 09:47 PM

Thank you! I admit that I, too, was expecting more of a.. "bang". What I mean by that I have no idea, but I just expected something gasp-inducing during the final showdown.

For all of the havoc Sylar caused, he seemed to be defeated so quickly. I kinda wanted more of a fight, a battle. I dig Sylar. I hope this isn't the last we see of him. Personally, I would have liked to have seen Niki kick his ass a little more. I love her!

All in all, I was satisfied with the ending, and I can't wait to see what next season (and Origins) holds!
