I tried an Apple Martini just a few weeks ago. Yum!
My staple is Tequila Sunrise. |

Hmmmm. What I drink totally depends on my mood and the venue. For a night out at the pub, it’s usually beer. Never lager (except for Corona). Usually from a smaller, NZ brewery. Very occasionally, cider.
With dinner, it’s wine. I’m enjoying Pinot Noir at the moment for red, and sauvignon blanc for white. Hardly ever drink bubbly. Spirits-wise I like Gin & Vodka. A good gin and tonic is great. Martinis only with vodka though (and I hate olives, so a twist). I have been known to have the odd Appletini or Lemon Drop. Mojitos are great too. Back in my student days shots were my thing. Now I’m a <cough> a grown up, not so much;) Fun thread:snap: |

<---I prefer $14 martinis at the Algonquin Hotel. |
I'm a water drinker, and for an exciting evening? Chamomile tea. Water and herbal teas- that's my poison. :)
It's funny! I've always said & felt the same exact thing that Claire posted. No umbrellas! And definitely no produce sections bobbing in my elixirs. Of course, any tropical holiday is totally the exception! For me? Holiday cocktails! By this, I mean a drink that seems to be in perfect unison with my setting. I certainly don't mean this in a snobby way at all! :( Just in a fond, warm memory-kinda-way. Think of it as a liquid postcard. :) My favorites? *Brandied Keoke Coffee curled up in front of a roaring fireplace, in the Awahnee Hotel in Yosemite. Mmm..even my memory is all snuggly & blankety. *Hot Chocolate with Butterscotch Schnapps, or a Peppermint Patty after snow boarding or ice skating, in the Ski Lodge in Park City, Utah & Vail, Colorado. (Hot Toddy's are wicked Thera-Flu.) *Frothy Chi-Chi's lounging poolside, or sunbathing on the beach in Maui (the umbrella exception comes into play!) *Singapore Slings on the Island of Java, and Bali (after a few of these, I swear we all spoke the same language!) And my usual for any spot? *Belvedere martini, straight up & with a twist *Sapphire & Tonic My signature drink used to be a Cosmopolitan. I don't think I could ever down one again. I'm certain of that! |
My favorite non-alcoholic drinks are Coca Cola, V8, and fruit juice (apple, grape, orange, cranberry).
I usually have a Long Isle but I'm okay drinking just about anything except for beer or straight shots. Although I'll drink it I'm not too fond of wine either. |

I've been on an Earl Grey kick lately. Since the weather here is getting really nice, I've been having it iced. It's so dreamy. |
If we're going non-alcoholic, I'll take a vanilla coke. Several, actually.

If just out of sheer volume of consumption, it would be Diet Coke. I usually have one in the morning before work, one on my first break, one with lunch, and one for the drive home. That's about 80 ounces of that carbonated stuff. I'm sure my bones hate me much for all that abuse. First runner up is water, and second runner up is 2% lowfat milk.
Now, when it comes to cocktail hour  I usually tilt back Smirnoff Ice like it was lemonade. Wait, come to think of it, it really is lemonade! A touch more potent, but lemonade just the same! :D My other favorite is Bailey's Irish Cream. Anything made with Bailey's Irish Cream! :coffee:  I've also been known to try different concoctions just to see how they taste and make me feel. But the key to my drinking has always been moderation. I never drink more than three hard drinks at any given time. If I do, I will not leave the establishment I'm drinking at for two hours after I've downed them. |
Ice-cold, non-fat milk... and lots of it!
I don't drink alcohol (never have, never will) and I don't care for carbonation in my beverages. (So sodas are right out.) If I'm in a bar I typically order a cranberry juice with lime or sometimes a virgin strawberry daiquiri. I enjoy most tropical and/or berry juices and juice blends. |
