I didn't think it would be able to handle the little Radio Shack RC A/B switch I have in the setup so that I can watch network HD without paying for a Comcast HD converter. But it did. Lani is very happy, so I'm happy. The only problem is that the remote doesn't recognize the "-" character in channel numbers so I can't use it to change directly to the HD channels (up here the local WB HD, for example, is on 36-1) so I have to change to 36 and then channel up. Oh, and of course it went into deep discount on Amazon about two weeks after we bought it (at Fry's). But we're too lazy to deal with returns just to save the $100. |

Oh and don't drop it. They do not take well to that. Plus be sure to keep the contacts on the remote and the base clean. If your remote suddenly dies that's the first thing to check (unless of course you just dropped it). |
I specifically did not want the RF which is why we didn't just say "what the hell" and pay the extra whatever it was for the 890.

We've got the 880, purchased because it was the only universal remote I could find that has buttons that can't be munched by the bunny (4 remotes have had their buttons cleanly chomped off). Boy howdy do I love it. |
um... I installed a Sony CD jukebox several years ago that had a serial port connection for chaining up to 6(?) units at a time- the client had 3 of them stacked in a media closet next to his home theater.

There's also this for using a PC to control a collection of media changers- could probably whip something up nice for a MCE based system with it.
