One of the pictures on the article Kevy linked (namely the Sangaku case) gave me a nice idea... what about doing a computer case in the Arts & Crafts style, using wood, a router, and opaque colored plastic? Sort of something that would fit in at Storyteller's Cafe, you know?

Oooh... or even wood and stained glass. I used to do the kind of stained glass where you applied the color with eyedroppers and outlined the image in something called liquid leading. That would be totally easy to do!

You people are MEAN!

Those are beautiful!

I'm tempted to buy a bag of vintage clock parts and make the jewelry myself, and then give it to friends too. :)

You mean something like this?

Of course, I had to go to Etsy and find MORE stuff.....

Well, I think we should have a steampunk jewelry-making party!

Kevy, I've got a whole drawer full of pics of a Suissa computer Revolution... :)

I think the next Atomic Cookie Blast Furnace is gonna be in a wood case - from Spotswood Custom Computer Cases

Oooooh!!! Now THAT would be fun! :snap:

I think I might make a trip to Bohemian Crystal at the fabric district first though. They have a ton of jewelry parts for dirt cheap (including some cameos and a gob of assorted brassy things), and I'm betting that the jewelry district might even have some clock gears by the pound or something.

So, first we need a trip downtown, then a night for making the goods! :D

Oh, and apparently, that gear clock is also available at Target:

And who would have thought that JCPenney actually has something cool:
