Tracy is freaky looking - like a bit to much plastic surgery freaky looking. She annoys me as well.

I didn't realize that the challenge was something of a repeat.

They used the identical aparatus last season. I remember it well because the two tribes were on the course at the same time and became a major pushing and shoving match, it was awesome. But having people who had maneuvered it before was obviously a big advantage this time around.

Pirate Bill 02-29-2008 10:38 AM

Getting the contraption unlocked seemed to be the hardest part for the fans to get through. That put them at the disadvantage from the start and it wouldn't have mattered how fast they maneuvered the course.

But I do agree that it was weak for them to recycle this particular challenge.

Ghoulish Delight 02-29-2008 11:50 AM

Yes, that put them in a big hole so they would have lost either way. But they never came close to making it through the course, they were clearly struggling more than the favorites.

And I consider it more than weak, it's patently lame. To me, the crux of Survivor is, "Let's take these people, put them in awful survival conditions so they're hungry, weak, and tire. Then let's throw some crazy-ass challenges at them and watch 'em flail!" So the interesting part of this season, with one experienced tribe vs. one inexperienced tribe was, "Does being better at the survival part give you an advantage?" All other things being equal (i.e., still not knowing the particulars of a challenge), does eating and sleeping better translate to victory.

Of COURSE they're going to win a challenge that has a learning curve and that they've already done. That says nothing interesting, to me. That's just stacking things in their favor.

Perhaps my favorite exchange from last night:

Quote:

James: "I can't believe we voted out Yau instead of Eliza."

Eliza: "I'm right here you know."

James: "Yeah, but you're about to die."
And seriously, is Ozzy's father Aquaman or what? I keep expecting to see gills on the side of his neck. Having said that, he really created a piss-poor idol replica and yet, wrapping it back up in the cloth will probably fool someone, especially someone with a lack of brain cells. Joel, perhaps.

Fun episode last night. :) Man, that was a brutal rewards challenge. Geez, let's take the most non-athletic guy on the team and strap him to a charging bull. That should pan out nicely.

Cheri is still doing what she does best, manipulating the whole game. Watching Joel's facial expression gradually change during the vote was priceless. And, it would appear, according to the preview that there is someone dumb enough to think the fake idol is real. Good stuff!

Ghoulish Delight 03-07-2008 11:37 AM

Yeah, love her or hate her, you have to admit Cerie knows how to play the game, and play it well.

It seems that they are coming up with more and more dangerous challenges. I'm finding it kinda absurd.

Indeed. By the previews, it appeared that there is a chance that Jonathon's injury may be somewhat serious. I wonder if he will have to bow out? I know they test these challenges beforehand but still, I'm surprised someone wasn't more seriously hurt.

I never watch this show. ever. sure enough, I stumbled across it last night as these two were chasing down the last team for the flag.

skinny boy took one hell of a header over the fence and raging bull never even slowed down. dragged him along like a duffle

nice pairing. best laugh Ive had at something on TV in a long while

Another repeated challenge.

I'm glad they did the right thing and ejected Chet. Jonathan was at risk of loosing his leg or even his life and he didn't want to leave the game. Chet had a little booboo on his heal and he was begging to be voted off. It's just too bad they took so long to do it.
