Oddly enough, I haven't been back since Gay Day started getting really tired and old, and frankly boring to me. I circulated among some LoT folks what I thought was a great idea to spice it up with a quasi-MouseAdventure game that was very risque, and ya know, homo-erotic, but tremendous fun. (I don't know if anyone ever even read my proposal ... I know my then-boyfriend never bothered to.)

Yeah, it would have been a lot of work, and yeah we likely would have had our butts kicked out of the Park. But it would have revived the old fun of Gay Day. (And who knows what other effects it could have had on our butts if some really hot guys liked the game and took a shine to the organizers?)

So, coincidentally or not, I haven't been back to GayDay since. This will be the third year I've missed.

Being shunned by pretty plastic people is okay with me.

Hmm, I think I'll stop reading this thread since it's making me feel stupid for getting excited and going.

If you're there this weekend, give me a call. BJ and I are staying Friday nite -Sunday.

What Brad said... Don't hang out with the attitude queens. There are plenty of friendly gays.

I'd go if I could.
I have to attend a surprise party which I helped plan.
:)

You should not let a lack of enthusiasm on the part of others sway your exuberance. If you are looking forward to the event, you go on looking forward to it! Ignore the old grumps.

I don't deny there are, but I have never been able to locate them at Gay Days.

It has been my experience that the overwhelming demographic for Gay Days are one of the following:
  1. Couples having a good time on their own, not looking for a third wheel.
  2. Tweaked out twinks who have absolutely no interest in even looking at someone not a clone of themselves, let alone even saying "hello" to.
I even went to the Bear gathering the last two years, thinking that they might be more amiable. I was mistaken. I might as well have been invisible.

Hmmm, in all the years I attended, I never experienced anyone being snooty or such.

I had a boyfriend all those years, but we never vanted to be alone. We loved being with a big group of our gay and straight friends, on an unusually fun day at the Park precisely because everyone else seemed so outgoing and friendly -- obviously with the keen awareness we were all participating in a giant group funfest.

Alas it was the same fun-fest year after year, and so the vicious circle began of less friends attending, less fun, and even less friends attending.

Oi, now I'm never gonna get to go to a GayDay with Brad Cricket, one of my bestest gay pals.

Wanna meet me there for a quick couple of hours in the early morning, Mr. Cricket? It's killing me that we'll never do a GayDay together. Just seems wrong.

He's just going away: he's not dying.

Or is he?

innerSpaceman 10-02-2008 02:41 PM

Yeah, but unless he comes back during the first weekend in October in the next year or two, I won't be gay anymore.

After 50, I'm officially dead in the gay world. ;)

Gemini Cricket 10-02-2008 02:50 PM

I can't get away unfortunately. Saturday night will be a drink-fest. There's no way I can get up early on Sunday...

I'll be back. I can't stay away from the park for very long.

Besides, like the Brad Paisley song goes: I'm more interesting online any way.
:D
