Nicely done! I especially like the parts that cross the split.

And did they do fireworks that I didn't know about? It wasn't on the schedule but the video showed it. I'm guessing it wasn't footage from the 24-hour day, but publicity to encourage people to come for it?

it was per-shot (probably some stock) footage. This video was released on the 29th ("Today, for the first time ever..."). The video showed the Monorail running at Disneyland, which was not running on the 29th.

  • Be three minutes or less
  • Have six lines of narrative
  • Be a compelling story
This year's Grand Prize Winner is the "Porcelain Unicorn".

I heard on a podcast where the electric vehicles are too silent for the hearing impaired and the idea was brought up about downloadable engine tones to help the hearing impaired with traffic navigation as they stand on a street corner getting ready to cross. so it wouldn't be such a wild idea...instead of ring tones for sale, engine revs and purrs via the i-tunes store. :tiki:

I say real because I've personally seen worse.

I used to work for a software company. One day, one of our salesmen brought in his home computer for us to look at. The salesman was a VERY heavy smoker and when the poor tech opened the case up, there was a half inch layer of dark orange fuzz covering everything inside. It was so vile the tech had to bring the computer outside to clean it.

Alex 08-26-2012 01:56 PM

Yeah, I think I've seen at least that bad in my own computers.

The once sitting next to me has essentially been on 24/7 for three years and I've never opened it up. That is a lot of air sucked through it. I do know that I've found the the outside of the vents almost completely blocked by cat hair.

However, the title "We're Really Puzzled" is right on the money. It's the perfect anti-progress rallying cry. Can't you hear them chanting it any time they don't want things to change?

Alex 05-14-2013 05:18 AM

On the one hand, "smartphone" is a woefully inadequate word. It lacks specificity and causes confusion by creating a fuzzy line between "feature phones" and "smartphones."

On the other hand, he must have been confused with then they put radios in cars. Is it still a car?

It looks like they used the interior as well as the exterior - very cool!

innerSpaceman 06-06-2013 11:59 AM

Yes, practically the whole movie was filmed in and around El Mio. I never heard of the first "Insidious," but I'm sure going to see the sequel.

Personally, I think El Mio made a better haunted house when it was fire-ravaged, in the era of the original Dead Man's Party - but I suppose it would not work for one of those "innocent family buys a house that's haunted" movies.

It still doesn't work for me, because one look at El Mio screams Haunted House - except, well, it's not.

Kristin Chenoweth's Anthony Weiner "Popular" Parody

lyrics below
Spoiler:
"Popular" Rewrite for Kristin Chenoweth
Lyric Rewrite by Allen Kendall and Sharon Wheatley, Music by Stephen Schwartz

Whenever I meet someone who's in the public eye,
And let's face it, Mr. Weiner, you're in the public eye,
My tender heart tends to start to bleed.
But may I suggest a makeover?
I simply need to take over.
You know I know exactly what you need.

Can't you see it in my face?
You are the toughest case I've yet to face.
Don't worry, Carlos Danger is no more.
He's out the door.
And now for sure you will be...

Popular
The right kind of popular.
I'll teach you to zip your fly,
You won't be that guy
With a camera down his pants - ugh! -
I'll teach you what tweets to tweet,
Something clean and sweet
We'll make sure you get the chance to be...

Popular
The right kind of popular.
They'll think you've become a monk,
Though they've seen your junk
Now you'll play a different show
So let's start,
'Cause you've got an awfully long way to go.

Please pay attention to my frank analysis,
Think of it as social media dialysis,
Now that you're running, I'll become your pal,
A sister and advisor
You need someone wiser
Someone to make you

Popular
The right kind of popular
There'll be no more sexy texts
With your biceps flexed
Your roaming eye will roam no more.
You wanna be the Mayor? Stop actin' like a big ol' whore.

La-la-la-la
We'll try to make you popular.

Think about your dear wife, Huma...
Hope she's got a sense of humor
She should take a page from Hillary
And become
Independent of her hubby
While you sport a chat room chubby
With all her brains and knowledge
She should be free

To be popular.
Please! I know she'd be popular
The voters want leadership
Not some sexting drip
There's no question she would be
Very, very popular like me.

KRISTIN (spoken): Seriously, Huma, woman to woman, if that guy doesn't zip up and unplug, kick him to the curb. And to Anthony Carlos Danger Weiner (or whatever your name is):

As you may have guessed
My disinterest
In you running NYC
Don't know if I can bear it,
Your porno popularity.

La la la...
Sure, you're popular
Just not quite as popular as me.

Read about this bridge a little while ago. Because they got sick of repairing it they put added a steal bean to the face, which is why it is so solid. There are also signs and a warning light that turns on if a truck is too tall. Doesn't seem to make much difference.
