They actually use cloned seeds, so you will get a row of trees with branches all sprouting at the same place. In the summertime (peak growing), not only can you easily measure growth by the HOUR, if you are patient enough, you can almost see the tree grow (so I have been told - I have not experienced this myself).

Can someone explain to me what "pwned" is? I see it all over discussion boards and I don't get it.

It's the typo-version of "owned" as in "You got owned" (or for us fogies, "You got moded")
