I'll try it next time I time out. Normally that's how I read the new posts: search for new posts, click the "first new post in thread" button, read, hit backspace, and on to the next thread. When it times out it lists the threads, but I don't get the "first new post in thread" button. Normally I am careful not to let it time out but I read the big thread first which was a mistake and I should have known it. :)

I always right click on the "first new post in thread" to open in a new window (or new tab if your browser supports it and that's what you want), closing that window once I've read that thread. That way, I don't lose the original search and it is easier to find.

I've done that, too, but this time there were a *lot* of threads and I thought I'd be ok going back and forth.

I'm a tab-a-holic, too Kevy. It's the only way to browse... especially on the LoT ;)

I SO need this for the next camping trip. Or if I accept my friend's invitation to go to War this year.

Moonliner 03-27-2010 06:28 PM

We just finished a late dinner cooked using the electric oven, gas stove and microwave. Cleaned up, loaded and currently running both dishwashers, sat down to watch a couple of minuets of TV on the Big Screen HD Goodness which went to commercial so I left it on while I came to the home office turned on both monitors for a quick Internet check only to find out there are 4min left in "Earth Hour".

Oops. My Bad. Sorry Mommy Earth.

As my penitence I need all of you SoCal'ers to power down when your time comes. Please?

I'm watching 4 big dogs tonight and the largest if afraid of the dark. Such a conundrum!

I don't do Earth Hour because I think it's stupid so if I were vital to your hopes for penitence, Moonliner, my apologies.

But my office building announced that they'd be observing it so there's that. Of course, they'll be turning off the lights when 95% of them would have been off anyway but it's the thought that counts and we'll ignore the server rooms that are always on even when no person is within three floors of a computer connected to them. And let's not mention the AdverTVs in the elevators that personal experience shows are also always on even when the motion sensitive elevator lights have turned off. Or the fact that we've turned every toilet, urinal, faucet, and soap dispenser in the building into a continuous electricity sucking device.

I promise not to threadpoop in the actual Earth Hour thread.

In terms of power saved during the hour, It's pretty much meaningless but as a way to raise awareness of the larger issue of conservation, it's kinda catchy.
