Just got home from rehearsal. Oy. Every show I've done has its stories, this one's got some doozies and it hasn't even opened. Sat. night/Sun. morning, 1:30 AM, the angel's flying rig failed and I had an actress fall 15 feet to the stage. She's okay, but she shouldn't be. EMTs came, she went to the hospital, people freaked out, including me. My immediate thought was that somehow I'd forgotten to hook her to the rig. It was weird how in my panic I had absolutely no recollection of the preceding 10 minutes. Fortunately, another actor was up there with me, and, together, we were able to piece together the sequence of events. I knew, by the time I went to bed at 5:30 AM, that I had done everything correctly, and had a theory about what went wrong. By that time, we had received phone calls from the hospital and knew that she was a little bruised, but otherwise just fine. I mean, if you saw what I saw, you'd know this borders on the miraculous. Tonight I had a chance to look at the rig and the harness, and very easily see how the really stupidly designed hook was able to slip itself off when a little slack was on the line. They'll be making some changes, or they'll be looking for a new stage manager. I'm so grateful she's okay, if a little stiff. I was absolutely terrified that I'd somehow caused someone to be killed or seriously injured. I love theatre and I love my friends but I didn't know that there could be a combination of the two that would make me feel like I wanted to die. I'm better now, she's opening in the show on Friday, and I know what went wrong.
On the plus side - I was able to get them to use Pete Renaday for a recorded bit in the show. Makes my heart swell with pride, it does.

Goodnight.

I'm currently considering never using the phrase, "off the hook" again.

Seriously considering going and disrupting a candlelight vigil scheduled for tonight to protest a Sacramento couple who have hung an American soldier uniform in effigy along with a sign saying "Bush lied, I died" on their home.

Apparently, there are a bunch of angry "America lovers" who wish to deny other Americans their basic constitutional rights. Loving America around here means blindly supporting the government and being pro-war, I guess. One bitch has even gone so far as to ask the cops to investigate the effigy as a hate crime. I'd like to go and open up some "dialogue" with these people.

:(

STC, most of what I've seen you post recently is angry stuff against Bush and the war. I myself am rather unhappy with all of that, but seeing only your mad side is making me sad.
:( :( :(

Be happy, Sac! It's the 50th, we have a successful new board filled with wonderful people, and life is good, at least on the micro side of things. Have one of these. :)

The train will be fantastic! We've taken it to Seattle from LA and it was a wonderful experience. And, you're going to CHICAGO!!!!!

I adore that city. There is so much to do, see, eat and play with. FLW's house is incredible - do the guided tour and be in awe of the Ginko tree. Take the walking tour of the neighbourhood, too, it is incredibly rich in history and visual pleasures.

It may be too cold, but if you get a change, take one of the architecture riverboat tours. Simply a wonderful! Also, if the Jackie Kennedy exhibition is still at the Field, go see it. I loved it and it really gave me a new appreciation for the early 60's - and fashion.

Oh gosh......food. Chris and I have been making our way through the swankiest and most delicious restaurants in Chicago. Our hobby is not cheap, but it is oh so well worth it. Ask either one of us if you want recommendations.

I could go on and on about this City. It is really in my top 5 cities of the world.

I'm studying the board's code, trying to learn just what I need to do to tweak the next hack I plan on installing to make it swankier than it already is...

I think you should go and have a candlelight vigil for the people who have the uniform up. Signs "Bush lied thousands died", "exercising the 1st ammendment is patroitic", "support our troops, bring them home".

Signed,

I am getting ready to take my Monkeys to Cub Scouts. I switch off with the mother of 2 of my Monkeys. It is my turn this week. She and I talked today, the middle Monkey has been trying to play us lately so we have agreed to talk before agreeing to any of his plans.
