So Madzie is on her DC/Philly/NY trip this week. I was a little worried with this being her first trip with Diabetes and the time changes and all that. So far so good. We don't actually hear from her but she updates her facebook. I love what she finds interesting. So far the snipers at the White House, the Holocaust Museum was disturbing, so many monuments it's depressing, George Washington's bathroom is 200ft from his house and some kid passed out on the dinner cruise so they had to go back early.

I read that it moves almost a foot closer each year.

There, I fixed it.

There's a big difference between hiring a teen to clean a litter box and hiring a teen to walk your beast.

That said, what can an owner do differently when the leash breaks and the dog is hellbent on disemboweling another dog?

I agree that a cat is not likely to hurt another animal while you leave it under the care of a pet sitter, however the likely hood of the cat getting out, hurt, or getting attacked by a dog or raccoon is more likely with a less attentive person.

If this dog actually broke the leash (which I think is very unlikely) it would have either been a) damaged before hand, b) not appropriately sized for a dag that large or c) not installed properly. A professional dog walker would know that the dog was aggressive to other dogs before hand and would have been VERY attentive while walking this dog and would have not walked with a damaged or inappropriate leash. There are so MANY thing wrong with this situation that could have easily been avoided with someone who knew what they were doing.

Now, mistakes do happen - even with professionals. I have had some pretty scary situations in the past 5 years that have taught me more about what COULD go wrong with a dog, a cat, or even a rabbit or turtle.

I just ran across this bit of ASCII art:

Love it!

I'm not venting, there's another thread for that. Just commenting with some level of amusement at the games people think they're playing sometimes.

Vegas:

Everyone smokes.
Spent an amount I shan't own up to on dinner at Fleur de Lys during which I got full on drunk for the first time in my life.
Visited Caesar's Palace, the Venetian, the Bellagio, Paris, and just inside the door of Planet Hollywood.
Obtained slightly alcoholic beverage in large bong-shaped plastic cup.
Obtained a stack of naked lady cards.
Won 65.75 in video poker in Paris.
Saw Bellagio fountain show.
Went up the faux Eiffel Tower.
Bought glass beads at the Venetian.
Drove home.

Then, Sunday, went to say goodbye to the Jewel of Orleans, where the Rat bought me diamond earrings.

If you want to know if she paid attention to anything other than the bathroom, ask her where the back porch is.

Sounds like a great couple of days! :)

Fleur de Lys? Where is that? What kind of food do they serve?
