My dice plates came in!!!

They're gonna be perfect as appetizer plates. Hmmm, might be time to learn to make clams casino.

I just love those plates, Sam! It's fun how just one or two unique items can make a "look".

I'm getting there. I never realized it would be so hard, really. Slinging things around in an apartment is one thing, decorating a house is a whole something else entirely. Yeah, I cliched out and went leather in the great room and now I'm slowly digging my way out of mancave slash pub with a few fabrics, pillows (GASP), art and incidentals. I'm having a blast. It's fun, and most importantly, it's MINE!!!

Pillows, table coverings and curtains play an amazing role in softening furniture and making a original statement.

So, tell me if I'm crazy. I want a course silk floor length drapery and valance set over dark matchstick blinds. I'm thinking a wide vertical stripe or possibly different colored panels shirred together. I need the shade in the windows on the west side in the afternoons, and I like the shadow potential with the matchsticks. I also like play of the fine silk against the almost primitive blinds. Too much? My best bud says, yeah, go for it. My lunch ladies are divided. What say you?

Oh, today..

I have been on this kick lately: Taking long drawn baths in the afternoon. I swear, nothing has been as luxurious as taking a deep soak before going on with the rest of my day. Tuesdays and Wednesdays, though I do go to class on that day, and do computer lab work (mostly goofing off on the boards as opposed to real efficiency), are sort of like vacation days to me. I get a chance to really pamper myself. So I soak.

Today, as I was washing my hair in the tub, I let the warm water coming from the tap rush over my head. And then I realized; I found a tiny slice of nirvana. So I blissed out under that tap for a while, as the steamy water enveloped the rest of me. OH YEAH!

I did eventually turn off the faucet, but ended up losing track of time anyway. After 50 minutes of listening to jazz, reading a book, and nearly total immersion... It dawned on me that I should probably leave...

Here's hoping everyone got to be as blissed out as I was at some point today...

I immediately pictured dupioni silk in one of the rich color/drapes available over a bamboo blind. That was after 20 seconds of thinking, so idea are not fully flushed - and are incluenced by my own projects.

I just bought a piece of bronze/gold/red dupioni silk with embroidered bees on it in the Garmet District. I will be making a valance over a 6' wide dining room window and replacing the metal blinds with wood. I also bought a remnant of dupioni silk for a runner for my buffet which sits below the window.

Tell me how I knew I was talking to the right person ;)

Dupioni? That's the stuff, I believe. I had a blazer a few years back of something similar in a pearly white and gray.

I'm loving a pale yellow and gold combo, with narrower stripes of red between.

Wow. That is so impressive. I don't have the decorating gene at all. I can pick out nice-looking furniture and stuff, but taking it to the next level is just not my thing. You're gonna show us pictures, right, so I can be pea-green with envy? :)
