Comedy Central Bows to Extremists, Censors South Park

Oh that's just gonna piss off Matt and Trey even more. I hope Comedy Central wants more censorship and Muhammed-themed episodes, because that's what they're gonna get.

I love the new Passion Pit cover of the Cranberries' Dreams

The bleeping of Mohamed's name during the episode - lame. The bleeping of the ENTIRE CHUNK OF DIALOG IN WHICH KYLE TALKS ABOUT CAVING TO FEAR AND INTIMIDATION THAT DIDN'T EVEN MENTION MOHAMED (as confirmed by a statement from Matt and Trey) is fvcking disastrously stupid. Just....wow.

It's amazing how much power that small group has (or seemingly has) to get CC to wuss out in this way. One veiled thread and boom censorship. I mean, I understand why CC did it, I don't agree with what they did but I understand they are concerned for the safety of their employees in light of the whole Danish rioting thing...

I sent this to Comedy Central:

Since I can't imagine I'm the first to say something, I don't even have to say much here, though I could certainly write a book on the subject. What you did on South Park last night was 1000 times more dangerous than simply airing it as intended could ever have been. You have legitimized the rantings of some mindless extremists, confirmed in their mind, and minds of anyone who might sympathize with them, that their empty threats hold sway. THAT is the danger. THAT is the threat. ONLY bold, intelligent, FREE expression of competing IDEAS can defeat them, and you took the cowardly, and dangerous route of backing down from their posturing. Congratulations.

Rereading that it occurs to me that I probably shouldn't have followed "mindless extremists" with "in their mind".
