I understand why they do those. There are a depressing number of people that just don't accept it until they see it, plus it's just cool to do. But yeah, I wish they'd at least do a better job of framing it as, "We know this works, we just want to do it because it's cool and to shut some people up." Rather than pretending that they don't know what the outcome will be.
I'm glad they've dialed back the explosion-porn aspect of the show this season. Not that I don't enjoy a good boom, but when they were ending every episode with, "Okay, now that we've tested the myth, let's stuff the rig with some arbitrarily huge amount of explosives and see what happens" the explosions rather lost their novelty.
