Looks cool!

Cool. I've decided that it is about time to upgrade our TV (which is experiencing some oddities) but that I'll be perfectly happy with a 26" rather than one of the huge ones (I've never lived in a place with a room big enough to sit far enough away from a 56" TV).

But I'm still balking at the $800-$1000 price tag. I came very close when I got a bonus at work a few weeks ago but couldn't pull the trigger.

I don't know, I love the SoL, I love what she represents and seeing her brings lump to my throat.

I am SO glad I got the chance to climb it many years ago. It was sweaty and smelly and like climbing an oven, but it was awesome.

I think I'm going to wait until DLP w/LED catches on and lowers in price. I've always found DLP to have the best picture:price ratio and if the LED thing catches on it mitigates one of DLP's biggest drawbacks (bulb life and replacement cost).

Even though this TV is big, width-wise, it takes up less space than our old 35" TV, which had a huge 'ass' and stuck out from the wall a great deal. Eric used his bonus to get it, and as much as we watch movies and play video games I figured it was worth it. Does take some getting used to, though, and I haven't figured out all the different viewing screens, etc.

here is the model we got, but since we got it at Costco it was about $800 less than this site is charging, and we got the stand as well.

Oooh, nifty, LCOS (sort of a hybrid between LCD and DLP).

I am clueless as to what it is, beyond it not being a plasma. (I like the look of the plasma TV, but too many disadvantages to it). We ran LOTR's on it last night, and it really looked great!

I'd get a flat screen, but my Winky-Dink sheets won't fit.

So, anyone know anything about Salem, OR and whether it would suck to live there for at least a year?

Brigitte 03-02-2007 02:42 PM

You'd be closer to Disneyland. You'd be a potential stop off point when we do the drive down. You'd be used to the climate already, at least all of what I've seen of Salem.
