Growing up the west end of the San Fernando Valley I was very used to seeing lots of kosher/Jewish items at the supermarket. Moving down to OC was a bit of a shock in that the offerings were squeezed to less than half of what I was used to. Certain items like challah and kosher salami usually aren't available at all. The displays for holidays aren't anywhere near as prominent or varied. Not all kosher sections are created equal...though I guess the Manischevitz stuff would be the last to go. |
I was being sarcastic at Alex.
And I agree that the holiday displays are much smaller. They seem to be shrinking yearly. There's more selection down by me than near my parents (in HB) these days. I'd kill to find some rocky road macaroons around passover time. |

However, this site (which amusingly is the "Jewish News of Greater Phoenix", reporting on Salt Lake City with a by-line of New York, but I digress) puts the Jewish population of SLC at "more than 3,500 Jews." But still not a big demographic. |

I have got a whole stack of applications to process tonight and get in the mail. Mailed applications! How quaint!
What shall I do during this brief break to rest my brain? 21 Jump Street streaming via Netflix! Oh, the hair! The fashion! The car phones! |
