What file system are you using? If you're on NTFS, defragging will do very little—if anything—to improve system performance.

Smashing the hard drive does != moving files ;)

Not sure how do I find out?
The defrag is over and the computer is moving a little faster.

Open My Computer
Right-click on your C: drive
Click the General tab
It will be displayed next to File System

Yes, it is NTFS.

Update:
The computer is running faster. It's still slow, but it's a lot faster than what it was.
