I agree.

I'm all for what NA and Erica said - a swanky party would be much more to my liking than another brush with 1989.

Hehe.1989. I was 12. What was I wearing when I was 12... Oh.. well doesn't matter if I can't remember, just dig out the jr. high year book and then go in my moms closet. Yep. That's right. Too bad that stuff wouldn't fit anymore. And they don't make the cool Vans I wore back then.

However I still have my hair crimper and a bottle of Electric Youth.

I am so JAZZED about this idea! (And that's a little nod to the syphillis dance and the sweet punched-out gay boy in Strangers With Candy.)

I agree that people should come dressed in their kinda swank (glitter, or, say, vintage, if that's your bag.) I just bought a new dress that would be perfect for my concept of grown-up prom. And now, a place to perhaps use it!

What about the idea of using a clubhouse? Somebody's apartment clubhouse? Maybe, somebody's apartment clubhouse we've used before?

Heehee! I had my hair crimper for lik 10 years, then finally went "hey, I hate crimped hair" and gave it to Goodwill. Electric Youth - I wish I had a bottle of that back then! ;)

All this talk now has me worried about the music selection for this prom. <shudder> :p

All right folks... if we can start to pin down a date, I can start scoping locations..... if we're serious we need to get a move on. :birdy:
I can start asking about San Diego State once I have dates.

LSPoorEeyorick 02-02-2005 09:39 AM

I vote no date sooner than a month and a half from now. I'd like to dance with my date, and he won't be back in dancin' condition for at least several weeks.

San Diego State? Can't we find a location closer to the group's epicenter?

I think they were thinking May,
And I think I was the first one to think they could get a large enough space cheap enough. (or free)
I can check it out, and someone else is totally free to find an LA venue

I'm not opposed to a road trip, but there doesn't seem to be much interest outside of a few, and I'm not sure we could all come up with the money for the venue, the trip, a stay over, etc. And it's certainly not an apartment-sized party. Hmmm.

Wouldn't May be the most expensive month to book due to prom season?

Say hello to Optimus Prime for me.

Do you and he go to the same Synagogue?
