Flippy, its not really the place for this.. but congrats.
Thats an exhausting role. You'll make up for missing the race.
(I thought you were a west coaster???)

I feel that way, too. But, it is if I try to look to the side or something like that. I keep myself looking straight forward and run like I would with my arms to my side {or whatever}. If I feel out of balance I grab ahold quickly. Sucks when in the garage I have just a bunch of junk to look at. I try to envision myself somewhere else and really get into the music I am blasting.

Steph, what type of training are you doing for the 13K? How much is enough and not too much?

I'm not really doing anything special for the 13K since it falls in the middle of my marathon training.

I recently used a Runner's World training plan for a 15K race I did, and it worked out really well. Here are some articles for short races like 5Ks.

Generally you want to build up to be able to run the whole length of the race you're doing, or be able to complete it with a run/walk plan. Are you training for something in particular?

We should start a new thread for the DL 5K folks! :)

Thanks for the links! {I actually may have that magazine...hubby subscribes}

I am not in training for any event in particular. I just want to be able to do it. Confidently. The closest thing I've run recently was what I think to be a 3 mile loop, run walking it. {run 3 minutes, walk 2} completing it in about 35 minutes. I felt good after and really want to do it more. The Disney run sounds perfect. {well, the Disney part:D }

If you were training in Arizona, you'd find a way to get on the treadmill. It was 95 at 8:30 this morning. :D

Frankly, I'm just hoping my DD doesn't smoke me during the race. She's been running races through her running club at school since Kindergarten, but this is her first 5K - and it is on her 10th birthday! She's pretty pumped up for it.

My goal is to be able to run the 5K under 40:00 mins - which would be a big deal for me. My training has been going so well that I'm thinking of signing up for my first 10K in October. The Race for the Taste 10K at WDW is the weekend we'll be there. Has anyone run it before?

I'll be at the 13K (walking very quickly--I'm not a runner).

I need new shoes.

Go to a store that specializes in running and walking shoes. Fleet Feet is a good national chain, and they have a store in Orlando. There's also Track Shack, that looks like a locally-owned place.

Less than 6 weeks to go! Wooo!

We're planning to have dinner at Boma on Sunday night (Oct. 28), so if anyone's interested in joining, please let me know. I haven't made a PS yet, so suggestions for a time are also welcome. I'm thinking maybe around 7 PM.

Alas, I'll still be "Fiddling" on Sunday night - I hope I get to run into you at some point. For anyone who does go, have some Boboti for me! (And don't forget to harass the staff about the lack of genuine zebra domes.)

Final race instructions have been posted (link to pdf). FYI, packet pickup was moved to Motions in Pleasure Island.

A group of us are going to meet near the FastPass distribution for ToT at midnight to take a ride. Anyone is welcome.
