Well, of the three "third movies" so far this summer I'd say Pirates is the most worthwhile of the three but none of them came out with a slam dunk. The rottentomato ratings aren't good but at least right now they are pretty much exactly what they were for the second movie. And it continues to have a reasonably large split between regular and cream of the crop critics (which happened on the first two movies as well; the first one only had 65% from the cream of the crop).
I guess I'll have to put all my hopes into the Bourne movie. |
Ugh, the second Bourne movie sucked.
|
As with the second Pirates I liked the second Bourne, just not as much as th first.
|
Bourne? As in Matt Damon is coming back to the big screen?
I'm sorry, Capt Jack who? |
Yes, there's a new Jason Bourne movie coming out later this summer.

Meh, once the gimmick of Jason operating on automatic with no conscious memory was gone, it was just another espionage pic. And a sequel at that. I don't care if it's based on a series of books, the follow-up books were sequels.
Oh, and no love story kinda added to the bore quotient. And to rid themselves of the love story, the film did one of the things I hate most of all hated sequel trends ... spend one movie furiously saving the life of someone vital to the main character ... only to kill them within moments of the sequel starting. Bah. But, well, Pirates opens wide tomorrow ... so we can go back to complaining about that series soon enough. |
Just another digital extravaganza. Gotta love Bob Mondello. One of the best mediocre review I've heard.
|
We just got back. It is long but I liked it. It wrapped things up nicely. Maddy gives it an 11 and a totally awesome dude rating.
|
Maddy's revised her review to "must see movie" :)
