I've been to probably 3000 live music shows in my life (if not more) and I've only seen one taped version that comes close to the experience. However, Nick Cave on DVD is better than nothing, since I've never seen him live.

The experience is one thing. But I can tell from even a poor facsimile if I'm going to really hate something ... and Ghostland Observatory just happens to be that something for me.

I may have only seen video ... but, believe me, I've seen enough.

Well, I'm not trying to convince you otherwise - I'm just marveling at my own disconnect with YouTube as a music review and selection tool. I mean I've gone to band's My Spaces to listen to their tracks, but I rarely if ever watch any linked video. But then most people are visual so I guess it only makes sense, it's why that stuff is there after all.

As for myself, I'm still on the fence - I've like what I've heard, but so far haven't been grabbed by them yet, and may listen to some more tracks (or borrow some) and see how it resonates with me. If they were playing Coachella I would certainly sit in on their set, and seeing them with fans is somewhat compelling on its own for me. But if it does turn out that their music bores me, I wouldn't want to be a wet blanket for my friends who feel otherwise - plenty other bands to see and all that.

The nice thing about the Music Box is that they have a balcony with seats to make a bad experience more comfortable.

So true. And, it isn't too far off of the freeway, parking is pretty good, so, not a lot of anguish getting there.

I like it there, and, if you are game, you can hit up the town.

Umm...who went?

The nicer thing about the Music Box is they have a huge, rooftop outdoor patio with a bar and a great view of Hollywood and a giant video screen to the happenings onstage, with an adjacent indoor lounge that looks like the inside of Jeannie's bottle ... you can have a fantastic time without ever setting foot inside the theater.

I look forward to some act that I can reasonably even tolerate to play there.

I saw him at the Wiltern. But he got pissy and cut the act short. Really short. It was sad. But I made what I saw last. Mmm. Nick Cave. Mmmmmm.

Oh how funny!! That does sound like it, totally! We have enjoyed that outdoor patio, quite a bit o' fun.

I've only been to two shows there but I really like it.

You saw him live? I hate you Eliza Hodgkins 1812!

(Not really. I actually adore you immensely.)

I also had sex with him. Twice.

Maybe I'm lying. Maybe I'm not lying.
