My initial reaction to Vampire Weekend was, "Geez, could the BE any more Paul Simon with their peppy little African inspired pop?" But gradually as I heard them more it dawned on me, "Oh yeah, I really rather like Paul Simon's peppy little African inspired pop, don't I."

You know, I hadn't connected them with Paul Simon in my mind, but now that you said it - totally. But yeah, I rather like Paul Simon's peppy little African inspired pop, too.

hehe

After buying the CD I finally heard a couple Vampire Weekend songs - but I think I'm more intrigued by Louis XIV - much more listening is required though

Steampunk Treehouse

Another reason to go to Coachella this year:

February 1, 2008 :: Coachella! Stagecoach! Tree To Appear!

Yes, yes, the rumors... all true! The Tree will be appearing at both the Coachella 2008 music festival (April 25-27) and the Stagecoach music festival (May 3-4). Both are held at the same location in Indio, CA. We're excited to bring the Tree to new people and to a new, grassy environment. Experience the Tree for the first time to the languid strains of The Dark Side of the Moon, the raucous gypsy punk of Gogol Bordello, or the eclectic country stylings of Rascal Flatts.

Oh and this year there are "luxury Tents" with A/C in and out privilages and massage therapist - only $700 for a 2-person tent

I happened to hear them on KCRW back-to-back with "Diamonds On The Souls Of My Shoes." I thought it was Paul Simon Day, until I was told it was not Simon whatsoever.

Louis XIV!

Wow.

I heard recently that rumor was that he's due for hip replacement, but a cursory google search shows the same rumor appeared in 2005, so I'm skeptical.

ETA: Hmm, press release lists him as a "Saturday Headliner". I wonder what that means for the Portishead/Kraftwerk logjam. The lineup page doesn't reflect the addition yet.

Borneio! This might do for scheduling the bats.

(Assuming he still is, I don't exactly follow the personal life of Prince)
