Totally agree. And after all the sh!t Jeff's given in the past to people who quit, to badger Janu into quitting? WTF? He must totally want to score with Steph.

Tom and Ian are idiots for going with Gregg and Jenn. I mean, DUH! If the two of them just spent their efforts convincing you to vote for Steph because she's so well liked, what the hell chance do you think YOU have with them? Steph's a huge target. If she's gone they're the targets.

Can someone post what happened at tribal council? I listened to most of the show on the radio, but went into a friend's house before TC, so I missed it. I heard up to the point when Janu came back saying that her night alone was great.

Ghoulish Delight 04-22-2005 09:25 AM

Basically, Janu said she would deserve to go home. Steph, knowing she was on the chopping block, but on an Emmy winning performance with tears about how much it would suck for someone who WANTS to go home to stay just because they weren't a threat, whereas she actually deserves to stay. Tom said, "yeah, well, that's the game." Then Jeff kept grilling Janu and asked, "Would you be willing to turn around and ask the tribe to vote you off?" She said yes, and she did. Then Jeff said, "Okay, what's the difference between that and just quitting?" She thought about it and said, "Yeah, you're right, I quit," and walked off. So basically Jeff talked Janu into quitting, saving Steph's hide.

I agree with that rundown, but it was done in such a shady, manipulative way that I was stunned. Janu didn't come into TC with a defeated attitude at all. She came in (in our opinion) with more energy and more of a will to stay in the game than before.
We fumed again over coffee this morning. I've never seen my husband so hung up on someone physically before this Stephenie person (:p ), and even he thought she shouldn't still be in it after that TC. He was like, "Is there someone we can write to? I don't want to ever see that happen again. That SUCKED!" And this is a guy who doesn't get worked up over anything.

I thought Ian was the one who initially was trying to get Janu to quit and was the one who put that option out there at TC? Remember, he and Steph were initial alliance partners and I bet he was thrilled to find a way to keep her in the game without ticking off Gregg & Jenn.

I don't think Jeff would've even started that without Ian's prompting, nor the fact that Janu has been begging to be let out of the game for a while now.

interesting little article here -

Apparently lots more happened at tribal concil than we saw - a whole bunch more!

Ghoulish Delight 04-22-2005 03:48 PM

Hmm, that's an interesting wrinkle. Why the heck did they edit it the way they did then?

Yes, Sheila, Ian mentioned it first, but, as it was edited, Jeff pushed too hard. But if what Janu is claiming now is true, then I guess that's cool. Just seems an odd editing choice.

Actually I think it was quite the opposite in respect to her "will to stay". I think she felt like she did something for herself (as in fire and the night alone). I believe she mentioned at TC that she was satisfied with herself and the experience and felt as though she could leave. I still believe she didn't want to stay there any longer, based on when she came back from the desserted island. Everyone was shocked to hear her say "Great!" on how she did alone. She said right after that, she didn't belong there anymore.

You're right though, she did seem to have a different attitude, not beaten down and tired...but refreshed.

Thanks for the link, Leo! I printed it out for my husband and my daughter is reading the article right now. I appreciate it! :)

I loved the part where she came back from being alone and no one hugs her. They all stand there with bored "i want to be anywhere but here" looks on their faces while she told them what happened. I don't care how it happened, I'm just glad she's not there anymore. One unliked person can make a ruin a whole gathering.
