Of course, I was just out of the shower. Mirrors, glass shower door, etc. Lots of rumbly in the floor, which I thought was a big truck, then the place started moving. Pretty good shaking, no sharp bumps. I heard a few things falling over, but I can't seem to find what they were.

Newscasters: While I appreciate your efforts to gather information, and I appreciate you making said efforts, I despise your use of the word "efforting" as if it's actual English. Of course, calling the newsroom just gets you a busy signal.

It's always comforting when Kate Hutton, or as I like to call her, the "earthquake lesbian" from USGS, finally comes on TV to tell us we're ok. I heart the earthquake lesbian.

This was the first time I have seen her. She does have a comforting "mommy" vibe about her.

Yes! That means I can still laud my 5.6 & 5.7 earthquake over you 5.4 sissy's.

It sounded at first like someone in our office had taken off running upstairs, then everything got all wobbly. Part of me is really glad I was standing outside of our test lab where I would have been surrounded by endless tons of heavy equipment perilously mounted in tall narrow cabinets. Part of me wishes I'd have seen that show, although nothing seems to have budged at all.

Long after I could feel any more movement, I could see a minivan in the parking lot still swaying.

At least I think that's why it was swaying.

You guys get all the fun !!

...I hope no-one lost anything TOO precious. Dolls, teeth, etc.

BTW: I was asleep and didn't feel it at all.

Wow. Glad to hear that everyone is okay. I got a text from a friend in Newport Beach and my heart began to race. As with Moonliner my heart is definitely in Calfiornia with y'all out there. I got really worried for a few minutes there.

Wow! Finally got a chance to post.

My office is also in garden grove. We had very strong shaking. I was surprised when I heard it was only a 5.something!

Not too much damage on the first floor, where I am. But the second and third are a mess! Overturned file cabinets, stuff thrown from shelves, people trapped in their offices by overturned furniture, and one fatality... a fish.

They evacuated our building. After a roll call, we were released to go to lunch about 12:15. When I got back, the building was open again.

Bill is ok. He said that it was just a gentle swaying motion at home in LB. The white trash neighbors are all freaked out. Their first.

My mom is in Anaheim Hills. She’s ok. She had just left her apartment. She was in the hallway when it hit. She said she just bounced from wall to wall until it stopped, and then, went to play Mah Jong with her friends (that’s where she was headed).

My sister who lives in Placentia said her house is a disaster.

Has anyone heard from NA or Euro? I presume everything is all right, but I wanted to check on the beasties, pug, feline or otherwise.

Glad to hear everything is okay with everyone.
