I wonder if using rendered bacon fat would be an interesting replacement for some butter with my sweet potato pies. I may have to have a test pie session...

I found something very interesting.... (I wonder if, naw, couldn't be a repeat).

Bacon Flavoured Mints.

Oh, it IS a repeat.

Those Darn Uncle Oinkers.... they're everywhere !!

Still, have a look around Stupid.com anyway... there's a lot of funny stuff there.

What's more baconey than the smell of bacon frying in the pan?

The smell of bacon baking in the oven! I finally tried it last night, and oven-cooked bacon is AWESOME. It's actually MORE baconey!

I need to use the word "bacony" more.

Morrigoon 11-30-2007 01:42 PM

Well, I prefer the full version of the phrase "Baconey goodness", but do whatever floats your boat ;)

Bacon salt, yes, I bought some, even though the ingredient list was scary. I mean, I had to. So, it arrived and I tasted it, it's not bacon, it's not horrible, but I would have to be crossing the Sahara with no hope of bacon to satisfy a craving to shake some in my hand and lick it off. That said, I'm game, I roasted some new potatoes in the oven with olive oil, pepper and bacon salt. Still not bacony, but my arteries are thanking me for not using some of the skippy jar filled with bacon rendered fat. Not bacon, it does give the spuds a yummy, slightly hickory flavor. All in all, and interesting experiment, but there truly is, nothing on earth like the real, time-tested, taste-tested appeal of honest to goodness bacon.
