Sounds to me like the person in charge is trying to make sure the lesbians/black students/public interest types/etc. on the law journal don't attend. I say it's BS. Wear the suit you have. Who's going to throw you out? You'll be dressed the way most women appear in court anyway. I'm too far removed to know if it's what they wear to interviews as well. You might also want to talk to the journal's faculty advisor to see if he/she is down with this silliness.

Hell, the dean is female, started a bunch of social justice groups in the school - including a journal, and I'm pretty sure she's a lesbian (although it being a Jesuit school that bit isn't talked about much), and I have never ever seen her in a skirt. The journal's faculty adviser has been, in my dealings with him, an enormous ass, so I won't bother with him. A few polite complaints in the dean's direction would be more effective.

What kills me is that I have a dress I'd be perfectly happy to wear, but no, they want a suit. With a skirt. Screw 'em.

Well, a dress would be appropriate if you were going as a spouse. I think a suit with pants should get you in the door.

Reminds me when business casual took over. To my mind, it just meant having to spend money on new clothes. Fortunately, or unfortunately since it was part of their deep rooted pathology, the firm I was at banned casual dress.

I just realized I've become Jenny Fae. Crap.

Kevy Baby 03-20-2007 08:51 PM

What's a Jenny Fae?

I don't know, but the only thing a quick Google search is turning up is the sister of the girl tortured and murdered by this woman and her family.

So hopefully that isn't it.

It is also what the fact that people buy products based on homeopathy makes me want to do. To them.

Jenny Fey lives in the house
Where she's been for all her life
And Jenny Fey has got no friends
She feeds her cat and knits and mends
O, can't you see the lonely crying in the world
O, can't you feel the lonely crying in the world
Yet, the Jenny Fey's go on?
Jenny Fey she wears a frock
Hides her memories with a lock
Jenny Fey remains obscure
Just a tone through the massive blur
(O, can't you see the lonely crying in the world)
O, can't you feel the lonely crying in the world
Yet, the Jenny Fey's go on?
Jenny Fey would smile a song
And now her face is dad and drawn
And Jenny Fey is thirty-five
Jenny Fey was never alive
(O, can't you see the lonely crying in the world)
O, can't you feel the lonely crying in the world
I said yes can't you see the lonely crying in the world
Yet, the Jenny Fey's go on.
