Hmm... I actually really like my Ralphs.. They're attentive to the point where they'll measure out deli meats exactly, and I have to say "Nah, that's good." The cakes come out all nicely decorated. The only time I really had trouble was early, early, early morning in the bakery, though within a few minutes I saw them walking out with fresh baked goods, which made it all okay with me. Also, I find that my Ralph's has a lot of workers in areas like the deli, bakery, veggies, flowers, butcher... but no one seems to be walking around the aisles. My biggest complaint is for times when I'm looking for something I don't know how to categorize. I think once I was looking for marshmallow topping (or maybe it was maraschino cherries?) and didn't see it with the marshmallows, nor ice cream toppings. It took about 15+ minutes to track someone down that wasn't busy and/or would know the aisles well, and it was the only thing I went to the store for.

So why is it that now that I am post 40, if I lose a couple of hours of sleep in the middle of the night, I feel like I've been dragged through a knothole?

I don't know. But, I used to stay up late with the kids exercising and get up at a decent hour and feel great.

Now, I am soooo tired and if I go to bed during Leno I have a hard time waking up at 7. Used to be no problem.

I am also past 40.

WTF???

I've always been fortunate that my natural sleep requirements seem to be about 6 1/2 hours and as long as I can get a full night's sleep once a week I can go on 5 1/2 without much impairment. I hope that doesn't change as I get older (and so far it hasn't). People who need to sleep 8 or more hours worry me. But it is a three week per year of extra living I get. I can still pull all-nighters just as easily as I used to (did so weekend before last), though consecutive ones are probably out of the question. I also don't get hangovers and never wake up groggy. Except for being fat, ugly, and a prick I'm the ideal human being.
