I realize that I am way too into my dragons when I realized that

1. This dragon isn't being fed well enough - her tail is too skinny at the base
2. They are using repti-sand. The dragon picks some up and ingests it every time time they catch some prey. The problem is that the dragon's system can't process it and it ends up building up in their intestines.
3. I can tell it is a female.

Took me a few minutes. St. Bede was an early Christian scholar who established some mathematical rules for calculating the correct date for Easter each year (early calendars were not a good fit for the actual solar year and knowing how to adjust so that Easter could be held on the appropriate date was a major driving force in calendar reforms up through the big adjustment to the Gregorian calendar; very interesting book on all of this here).

So I understood what "Bede watching you Easter date" literally meant. But it took several readings before I caught the audible similarity between "Easter date" and "masturbate" and the connection to the "ceiling cat is watching you masturbate" one.

And now that the joke is over explained it is probably impossible to find it funny. Or, it will turn out, I've still not gotten it.

Actually, for some odd reason, I am quite amused by your explanation. I admire a man who is so willing to put so much effort into getting a joke.
