So I'm not sure I follow you. If you take the Christ out of Christmas what exactly are you celebrating? The solstice? Pagan stuff? Family? Commercialism?

I know for me, while I toss all that devine son-of-God mumbo-jumbo right out the window I still celebrate the man and his message.

As a non-christian, to me Christmas is about family and tradition. It's a time to be with loved ones. IMO, you don't need to believe in Jesus for this.

I guess for us it's a mix of solstice and family. I really like the darkness/going within symbolism of solstice, but we're an atheist family (with spiritual atheist leanings), so we don't celebrate the same way pagans might. I think for us Christmas is what it is for most people, Christian or otherwise...A time to be with loved ones, give what enriches their lives, and celebrate the goodness of life. I just don't see what it has to do with Jesus.

Christmas is an event that Americans have highjacked for commercialism. We highjacked it from the Christians, who highjacked it from the Pagans who hijacked it from someone else.

The naming of Christmas was something done by the Christians when converting the Pagans.

Happy Christmas,
Happy Xmas
Happy Holidays
Happy Whatever Makes You Happy this season.

We ate too much turkey, and my fabulous sausage stuffing, and gorged on my Egg-nog which now contains lashings of Cream, Brandy and Creme De Cacao. Yumm Brandy Egg-nog Alexander. *hic*

Wow, now there's the ultimate "I celebrate Christmas but not Jesus" statement.

I actually DO celebrate Jesus. But I find the Flying Spaghetti Monster ornament highly amusing.
