I've suspected for some time that a time/space issue has been behind the mysteries behind the island. These are some of my questions: *Were they holding transportation experiments that caused the time/space weirdness? *Was that polar bear transported to the desert (and burried there in the past)? *Can Ben and the others be transported off the island at will? *Is that how they got Lock's dad there, and is the magic box the transporter? *Why is the 31 minutes so "bad"? Is the warp growing? *And is that how they hide the island, in a slight time shift that should only be seconds but is growing? *Is Jacob stuck in a time shift that's out of phase? |

I remember Bens dad hated him because he blamed Ben for his Mothers death. She died giving birth to him. Wasn't that on the island? I'm almost positve that Ben was one of the true "natives".
I also don't think Aaron would count as an Oceanic six technically because he wasn't on the manifest either. He was born on the island, that much I know I remember;) |
Nope - they only talked about it on the island. There was a flashback to the mainland with Ben's dad and mom on the side of a highway or something like that - she went into labor and died.

Yes, Ben was born off the side of a highway, not on the island. Ben's dad then got a job on the island with the Darma people and he and Ben moved there. That's when Bens dad got his shirt that said "workman" and he said that he "didn't join up to just be a workman".

RE: the time warp - I recall Ben telling the pilot to stay on the same course when he flew out. That could mean they got "Lucky" and found an avenue in? Maybe the warp is what caused the plane crash in the first place.
I can't believe I've been sucked into Lost. Damnit! |

I think the 180 minute timer hatch machine kept the phase shift off by a set and stable amount (most likely a portion of a second), thereby keeping the island and the Darma people (and their experiments) off anyone's radar. The hatch explosion and the equipment keeping it regulated, may have caused the time shift to enlarge. They said it would "save the world" to keep pressing the button every 180 minutes. Well, the world hasn't ended, but can it still be in danger? Can the time bubble not only be expanding by time (now at 31 minutes) but also be spreading outward to eventually reach the rest of the globe? |
