So now what?
Have you seen him? are you supposed to call when he comes back so they can catch him?? What???

I want a bunny!!!! Unfortunately, stray cats can't evade Karma (the smartest of my Danes). Our cat is fine, but strays take off running when Karma comes out and she goes into instinctive chase mode. Then she catches them, tosses them in the air, and then looks at them like, "hey, why'd you stop running?" as they lay dying. I make a lot of noise now before I let her out at night. :(

of course not. Im supposed to actually CATCH said speedy bunny, without hurting him and return him to them post haste.

they (all 3 of them, ranging from ages Im guessing 8 down to the 2 or 3 year old chatter box) checked back 4 times over the course of the day to see if

a) I had caught Halo-bunny ...no dear, not in the 20 min since you were here last
b) if they could pet the barking dogs they were so afraid would eat the bunny, but didnt really seem to phase them at all
c) to show me the flowers they'd 'found' growing next door (yes...his roses. the owner will not be thrilled at this)

I liked it better when the local kids thought of me as that crazy old guy who lives in the haunted house

Sounds like you've got some work to do.

I'd not name it since that will just get you more attached and make it suck more when it suddenly disappears.

The rabbit we adopted some years ago from the San Francisco Animal Shelter had been found bounding around Hunters Point.

Its shelter name was Zelda, which we kept. It suited her, and it also allowed me to wax operatic a la Elmer Fudd.
