So, the reopening date is Friday, November 7th (subject to change, of course). Al posted a DL update today, in which he said the walkthrough is supposed to reopen that weekend. So his news sorta confirmed the date I was told.

The Sleeping Beauty platinum edition DVD set will include a virtual recreation of the DL walkthrough. So the DVD might give us a preview of what changes we might see in the new version of the attraction.

Tony Baxter is supposed to talk about the updated Walk Thru at the Sleeping Beauty discussion panel on El Cap opening night. I'm looking forward to that!

Hey!! Cool! It isn't a blackout date either...or is it? :( Either way, I can go after. I can't wait!

One of the bonus features on next weeks DVD release reveals a new scene featuring a dungeon of floating spinning wheels with blue flames:

Earlier today, I noticed they extended the construction wall around the exit to the walkthrough and placed another wall around the entrance.

Only 6 weeks left til this classic attraction awakens from it's 7 year slumber!

:D

Sounds cool! I just love that stuff they closed down and did nothing with is re-opening. The more attractions open, the better!

More info on the changes to the walkthrough:

Some of the new scenes were based on never-before-seen artwork by Eyvind Earle for scenes that didn't make it into the movie. When Tony Baxter was asked if there would be any scenes that feature Aurora's childhood years w/ the three goodfairies, he refused to comment.

Like the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage, the Sleeping Beauty Castle Walkthrough will feature a video presentation for those who cannot climb the staircases inside the castle. The former crystal shop located inside the castle is being converted into a video presentation room.

That reminds me, I never did the video version of finding nemo.

I can say quite certainly that I'm way more excited about the restoration of the Sleeping Beauty Walkthru than I was about the submarines.

I'm about excited about this as when they redid the bathrooms next to Alice in Wonderland.
