No bonfires in 1990's LA school activities.
Insert LA Riots joke here. |
Never heard of a homecoming parade either.
Homecoming was a dance and a football game. As a general rule nobody actually came home for it. |
We had a parade, though only clubs participated, so I never really got involved. I think we in Academic Decathlon talked about participating but it didn't happen. I did go and see the silliness when I was a senior, and like all the other senior activities I attended, I really don't know why I went.
Homecoming did bring back alumni to some degree. I went for a couple of years afterward but mostly because I had a brother in the band. I bumped into a few classmates - those of us that didn't go to college. |
So, a mom I know owns an Eichler. Visiting the house I was kinda star struck.

When I went to school (college; not high school) in San Luis Obispo, we used to have bonfires on the beach near Avila Beach though it didn't have anything to do with Homecoming. We could drink alcohol at these soirees, though I understand they have stopped this practice.

Halloween is getting closer. So is Pirate Halloween. What am I talking about? It's still an enigma. Stay tuned.

You'd think a pair of shoes made of feathers would put you in a giggly mood all day. You'd think that, but you'd be wrong.

Maddies phyched for her homecoming. We went shopping for accessories for her dress today. Our homecoming dances were always really casual but theirs is semi-formal.
We never had bonfires but we did to the parade thing one year. Only it was too expensive to shut a street down to do it so they just went around the track on the football field. |
