Freak soccer incident. He had the ball, I stepped up to defend him and we both just kinda hit the ball at the same time. It shot straight up and pegged him square in the eye. There was a pretty nasty looking lump within minutes beneath his eye, and I guess it finally went black last night. He went to the doctor today instead of coming to work. I haven't seen it, but it was well on its way to being pretty bad yesterday. |
You don't go to the doctor for soccer injuries. You wear them proudly as you go about your normal day.

I am a happy girl!
The Ducks won last night and move on to round 2. We took down their ginormous enforcer twice last night. WOOHOO! And I'm going to DisneyWorld!!!!!!!!!!! |

I'm still trying to figure out how a soccer player fakes a black eye.

You whine about soccer injuries on the field but off the field you can't even hint that you feel the pain. |
All in indirect proportion to the actual severity of the injury, naturally.

I'm with Alex. Heck, I'm a girl and I wear my sporting and tom-foolery bruises with pride!
Of course, there's a stigma attached to females sporting bruises - an automatic assumption that she got it due to some sort of abuse. I got a lot of strange looks and a couple of questions after taking a small-sized kickball to the face about a month ago. (I was playing in a "broomball" event.) |
I don't bruise. It pisses me off. A few weeks ago, I was involved in a pretty vicious knee-to-quadriceps collision (his knee, my quad). I could feel the pain down to the bone for about 4 days. Never bruised. Lame.

Well, this may only be interesting to myself, but Vistaprint sent out an apology email Thursday morning saying they'd had some kind of glitch the other day and were offering all this extra free stuff (over and above their normal "free" cards) as a thank you for coming back to them - ironic since I hadn't bought anything yet with them, just signed up an account. Anyway, got 100 color (on the front side) postcards and an address stamp, and the whole thing cost me less than $10, most of which was shipping (I paid $3 extra to have the address stamp be in blue).
Dubious quality or no, free postcards are free postcards! |
