Sounds delicious. I was actually in the mood for something red-meaty tonight, but we ended up getting the chicken dinners from Sonic (with extra gravy).

Somehow I expected a restaurant named Forage to be vegan/raw food.

Bacon wrapped Chicken & Herb Potatoes roasted served with some kind of veggie. Testing out this one, we'll see how it goes.

We had McDonald's... if for no other reason than to reaffirm that it is NOT "cheaper" to eat there. SHoulda gone to Togo's like I wanted to.

Tonight:

Sausage & Sauerkraut With Beer

450 g Bratwurst
350 ml beer
1 whole apple - cored and sliced
1 whole sliced onion - red, white, or yellow
395 g can sauerkraut, drained
3 slices of bacon
1 bay leaf
Pepper to taste - do NOT add salt - bacon and sauerkraut have plenty of salt.

Brown bacon and sausage together about 10 minutes in a large pan or pot.
Add sliced onion and cook to soften, about 5 minutes.
Add beer and deglaze pan. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low.
Drain sauerkraut and add to sausage and onions together with the sliced apple.
Cover and cook for about one hour over low heat. Check and add beer, water or stock a half cup at a time, if liquid evaporates.

Oh, gee. there's leftover beer...... :D

yuuuuuuum

It was really nice, but I'd suggest using a milder bear, er, beer - maybe a lager rather than the one I did (Which was Victoria Bitter) as it really did give a slight bitter tinge to the cooking liquid.
