Well, back on the job market. Trying to figure out where to go from here. New ex-boss suggested that I move away from admin and focus on media/video editing/social media marketing.

The Mouse has a social media position open that looks pretty awesome, but even getting an interview for a career-level job at the mouse is a one-in-a-million shot. Still, one must apply...

And this is why one should ALWAYS leave a job on the best terms possible - you never know where your career will lead you.

Not that I am saying you didn't do this Morri (I believe you did leave on good terms); just using it as an example.

Well, let's be honest, I think we all know the Mouse is where I belong. I just need a "career level" position there.

Have you considered going full-time as a CM? I know that frequent advice is to start that way.

When I was doing research for Headliners 20 Year plan to take over George Kalogridis' job I ran across several references implying that having a Disney background (ie CM or Fan) was a detriment to landing positions with "the suits"

Wow- everybody's been busy! I took a few days off from the wonderful world of the internets to go enjoy myself in Vegas.

I dunno about the "fan" thing. I got a job offer from Disney (though not the Parks) earlier this year, after an interview that involved a passionate discussion of my appreciation of the company. I kept it professional, and I'm sure it was tempered with my industry-specific experience, and specifics I cited as to how my ability to work for them would be enhanced by my knowledge of the company. But nevertheless, I got a job offer after being honest about being a fan. Should you go in wide-eyed and weird about it? No. But it's not a dealbreaker if you present yourself intelligently.
