For some reason "perfidious" always slips my mind. It's simple enough. Just means full of deceit, and yet I never retain it. So I had to look up that one again .

"parvenus", which turns out to be "a person of obscure origin who has gained wealth, influence or celebrity."

"ultra posse nemo obligatur". Latin. That was fun, because I basically looked through my Oxford to figure out the definition myself. Came pretty close. I couldn't find "nemo". So basically I worked out that it meant "a service beyond what anyone is able to perform". Turns out "nemo" is "no one" not "anyone". And it really means "no one is obligated beyond what he is able to do"

I really, really want to study languages.

Those are just some examples, CP. I had to look up more, but they're simple words I really should have known.

I'm fascinated by language- the history of, development, influences, everything. There was a great series on PBS years ago called the Story of English, which I loved so much I went out and bought the companion book.

We've been on a little semi-homemade vacation!

The kids were out of school Thursday and Friday for Rodeo Break! (Go ahead and laugh!) John had a week of vacation to take so we're ON VACATION!

Vegged around the house on Thursday, Friday we took the kids to Tombstone. It was a blast! They loved it. We watched "Tombstone" the night before so the kids would have something to go on...Kat and Bailey got cap guns which they wore in holsters on their hips all day...and practiced shooting the bad guys. Kat's guns are pink! So cute!
We watched gun fights, toured the Bird Cage, looked for ghosts, watched a trick riding show and ate ribs, which were pretty good. Kat and Bailey dressed up for an old timey photo..we actually got Kat in a frilly 1800's style dress, though she insisted on being a bank robber and had to hold a gun!

Saturday we went to the Pima Air and Space Museum. They have an amazing collection of historic airplanes and planes from modern age...if it had wings, it's in that mueseum. Even has two Air Force One planes...one was Kennedy's/Johnson's. Very cool!

Today we shopped! Kat is a shopaholic at heart. We've taken to calling her "Princess Shopalot"

Now I'm doing laundry..I didn't do any all weekend..like I was really on vacation...so I have tons! Eating my Berry Cobbler from Claim Jumper! Yummmm!

Me, too. I wonder if I can rent that PBS series from Netflix.

Cool!

OK -- Again, as I am most Mondays, I'm in this rediculous class. Where is everybody? Where are the throngs of posters that were on earlier? Why are you letting me suffer alone. Cold. Bored. And alone.

Meh. I'm at work. Counting the hours (just over 2) until I get out of here. Autumn officially starts today. I'm depressed just thinking about it:(

I'm relaxing with a nice glass of Shiraz, waiting for the dishwasher to finish so I can start cooking dinner. Had a nice productive day and I'm going to end it with a plate of pasta and a movie, if we can find anything interesting to watch. We have the Minority Report but I don't know that I'm in the mood for that. Oh well, we have a couple of hundred stations on cable. Surely something is on. Right?

That means nothing. Millions of channels does not equal something to watch these days...

Baileykat that sounds like a really fun weekend!!! :) I have vowed to get an old time picture of the boys this summer. I love that Kat's guns are pink! HOw cute is that.

I'm vegging out after "playing outside" for over 3 hours in this beautiful sunny 70 degree weather we had today!! We played basketball, baseball(hit and chase LOL)and rode bikes. Fun was had by all. Now everyone has eaten and it's relaxin' time :)
