I have a friend that always licks his finger and snags a couple that way, eating them in front of the rest. He says it is an object lesson to them to move on.

You could try that.

Tried and true ant (and flea, and cockroach, and moth, and tomato worm and, and ,and......) solution is Diatomaceous Earth. Sprinkle it when they are coming in the house. They will carry it back to their nest. The diatom fossil bits cut their exoskeleton and they bleed to death. It will kill a whole colony in no time - and it is non-toxic and organic.

Or, you could live on the second floor. No ants.

Road Trip!

I've been checking out the Un-Official Disneyland webcam. So far the tip of the Matterhorn looks like it is still above water.

That's a nice skyline but I have no idea where it is!? I love a good roadtrip, we need to take one.

As for ants, I always use Terro. It's non toxic and works every time. You'll see more for a little wjile but they take it back to the colony and die! My favorite ant is a dead ant. Especially since I've been busy making fudge, cookies and chocolate covering things.

The boy has an ap on his phone where you get to kill ants. They let me try it. Of course I am a natural, what with all this real life experience

New York City.

So, family stuff. I (as most of you know) don't maintain family communication lines in the way most people do so I tend to get news all at once.

My aunt managed to run herself over with her own van the other day.

My half-sister is moving to Ohio, with her girlfriend. This was news to me as the last time I interacted with her was in sending her a wedding present in 2007. But if she's out now and happy, good for her.

My ex-stepfather is having a baby with is almost mail order Vietnamese bride (it wasn't really a mail order thing but it was an "arrangement" of some sort).

My niece is finally doing well in school. Apparently auto shop and French classes finally piqued her interest. Problem is, I don't know if you can make a career fixing Renaults.

My uncle's bladder cancer isn't responding as well as hoped, but apparently the weight loss has really helped with the diabetes.

My dad, as he has been for the last five years, is still dead. Meaning I've only got another 11 years of normalcy before freaking out (should it turn out I'm one of those people who have complexes about reaching the age of their parent who died too young).

Both my mom and my other aunt refused to be interviewed for the local news when my other aunt ran herself over. So that's where I get it from, it's genetic. (When my house burned down in Hawaii, the reporter seemed shocked to run into someone who truly did not want to be on TV.)

My family almost seems interesting when I get updated biannually.

Nice pic, Moonie! Enjoy your trip!

Ants: we use Terro liquid ant baits. We've also used boric acid mixed with sugar (again, placed where they will take it back to the nest). I'm surprised we haven't been hit, with all this rain.

Update here- tarps on the roof, back down to drips inside (as opposed to a waterfall); made a trip to the local mall yesterday and didn't kill anyone (though several people seemed likely); and I'm kind of liking the rain.

Are ya sure you don't want to put quotes around normalcy?
