Well, except for the cooler and a few personal items I will use before daybreak, the truck is packed. Thanks to zapppop for bringing his air mattress tonight ... when he'd be available to help load up the truck. Despite that I thought it would be crammed tighter than a slave ship, it's merely packed to the gills.

Still, it's the culmination of several days of grabbing stuff from around the house, packing junk in bags and crates, and now loading it in the car. Then a six hour drive ... and the work really begins.

But camping is the funnest work of all. I Love Swank Camp!



And for every swankster who hoists a pirate flag, breaks out the lawn flamingo or pitches a Harry Potter tent, there are souls every bit as swanky who are just now thinking about what to throw in the car.


But the differences are striking, and can best be summed up by this beautiful exchange between NirvanaMan and €uroMeinke early in last years' expedition:

Hell...I haven't even decided which car to take...let alone what to put in it.

Oh sh!t, the Wiki !! Er, I guess I'd better change from 'maybe' since I'm leaving in about 6 hours. Oh, and then I suppose I should frelling sleep.

I think I'm ready. I've made salsa and preped what I can. Only one emergency trip to the supermarket for stuff I forgot.

Now a shower and bed. ISM we'll be on the road at 4ish as well so you can call me for our progress. I think you have the #.

This is a sober trip for us. My stomach's been having issues since I returned from the cruise, probably because I drank almost every night of the voyage. So, we'll be toasting you all with something less intoxicating. ;)
