Thanks, I don't actually consider it a demotion (and from a corporate hierarchy point of view it is a lateral move) but from a business person's perspective it is definitely a step backwards.

But I've advanced to a point along this chain where I really do know I don't want to advance any farther and while I'm good at my job I don't really care about my job. So I've put myself back onto a track where I know I'll be able to say "if my boss leaves I want his job, and then when his boss leaves I'll want that one too."

Well just in case you need it, may I suggest you think about http://rim.jobs? (work safe)

I know it is work safe, I've been teasing my contacts at RIM since someone tweeted that yesterday.

But it is a delicate line. I have to be very certain they know what a rimjob is before I do it because I don't want to have to explain it. Unsurprisingly pretty much everybody at RIM is very much aware of it.

A job at RIM? Huh. I don't think I've ever seen rats boarding a sinking ship.

An 839 MB upload at 48 KB/s is going to take a while.

Boy, do we need a better internet connection!

Go find an antique 56K modem and get dialup. It'll be faster.

Well, in their defense, its actually just a reserved domain that auto links you to http://www.rim.com/careers/

So they were just covering their butts
