Soooo.... my husband's old (as of a month ago) boss just left a voice mail saying they had made a mistake in letting him go and to please call him back to discuss.

Hopefully he told them about the job offer he had for much more money.

Playing chicken with a job offer when you have nothing better on the table is a very dangerous thing to do and will often backfire. Especially in this economy.
