I didn't know they sold cheese-on-a-stick!!!! Yummy!

The cheese on a stick is very good. A few years ago, I had both a corn dog and a cheese-on-a-stick at the Castle. I think I got sick, but it was so worth it.

I do like a good hot dog, though. Bunless, of course.

P.S. Stan4dSteph, I think corn gives a lot of people "digestive issues."

Why am I hearing Carol Channing in my head?

Same here. I got one at that red wagon truck off Main Street at DL (said to be the best) and it sat on my stomach like I had eaten a brick. Tastes good, but I tend to shy away now. I wonder if it was just the quantity? Type or quality of oil? Other corn dogs don't bother me.....

How about..

The Corn Burger. A juicy Big Mac battered & fried. Served on a stick.

I once saw Guy of the TV show "Diners, Drive Inns, and Dives" take a battered and deepfried hamburger patty, assemble the burger, then dip the whole thing in the batter and fry it. They put it on the menu at the diner and call it the Tripple D Burger! That's money!! :snap:

If the oil isn't hot enough or if the dog is left in too long, the batter will absorb oil instead of just cooking in it. Unfortunately in a high-throughput operation like the corn dog cart, new dogs will be dropped before the oil temp has recovered from the last batch. The best time to get one is probably when there's no line, so you'll get a fresh one cooked in hot oil.
