Sigh. The message ends up being, "your body is not good enough."

For real? They should have given her options, not an ultimatum.

But according to the fashion industry, *no* woman is good enough as is. If we look good to start with, we won't buy their cr**.

Instead, they try to remake us all into the same woman. How boring.

I don't think the fashion industry is to blame. We are all responsible for our own choices.

Dig. :snap:

I'd add - way before the fashion industry existed, people were trying to wear especially pleasing outfits/hairstyles/tatoos/piercings/etc to impress others. This still goes on in tribal societies, and has nothing to do with an "industry", of any kind.

What's the protocol on thin, light-colored blouses? Bra or tank top/shell?

MouseWife 07-09-2007 04:20 PM

I either wear a camisole or the same colored bra.

Not that I am such a conservative dresser, though.

I stopped by BR to try on some shorts. They were $20 cheaper than on Saturday AND I had a $25 rewards card. Total price for linen shorts - $4.48.

NICE!

There's a difference between "I'd like to look good" and "you suck unless you look exactly like 'this' model and you can do that if you buy our junk".

MouseWife 07-09-2007 10:35 PM

I don't want to look like everyone else and even though I am pretty strong, sometimes the crap does get to me and bring me down. Not enough to change, though.

Enough to not look in the mirror for a few days, maybe. :D

I'm like a goldfish, memory is very short.

But, it is hard on some people and some people do take it too seriously and judge others harshly.

Okay, where are these shorts? Does the BR stand for Banana Republic? I don't get out much...
