because its still 5 days worth of work. its just all crammed into a 4 days now therefore increasing the overall "ugh...work sux" factor in each remainder day. now, a general increase in the 'ugh' factor of any particular day creates a geometric increase in the overall 'ugh' density each following day contains, thereby increasing the 'ugh' factor 2x the first day, 4x the next etc etc
this doesnt even address the same effect multiplied by the coworker variable. each of which adds their own increased 'twit' effect to the overall 'ugh' increase when they in fact try to shed those free radical 'ugh's to you, thus further increasing your discomfort.
basically it comes down to 'no good day goes unpunished'
