Ooh, if I can swing it, I'd love to see this. Pompeii is on my list of must sees, in the meantime, this would do! So, anyone have advice where to stay in San Diego cheap?

I'm also up for a Hearst Castle swanking, it's been years and I simply must stay at the Pickford House (in the Valentino room, of course)

Does anyone know if the Hearst Ranch is still open? I don't know exactly what it is called, I think it is a military base or something. I have not stayed there but found it on line. You could stay there at one time, I think it was pretty boring as far as entertainment goes but I think that if the Swanksters stayed there, they would be the entertainment.

If I can find it...rebooting lost it....

For the OC contingent, downtown Santa Ana is home to a bunch of independent art galleries/studios. One of the best days of our recent trip to Chicago was spent wandering a similar neighborhood in Chicago, I definitely want to check this out.

That sounds like fun. Bet we could wander ourselves into a great hole in the wall restaurant too.
