I would suggest everyone re-visit the packing list before Friday.

I'm going to go and look at the team meal situation now. I need to know what meals I need to be prepared to make on my own. ;) God help us if we starve!

Chorizo and Eggs suits me JUST fine - as does Huevos Rancheros. I'm hungry!

So, that list doesn't look as bad as I feared. Breakfast looks a little unplanned and everyone who is left is on their own for Sunday dinner and Monday breakfast.

Remember to bring - 1 cord of wood each and charcoal (you can buy it up there but it will be more expensive).

Ummm you mean one supermarket bundle, right? :P A cord of wood is bigger than my entire car.

fill 'er up. ;)

Yes, I mean bundle.

Or more specifically:

A cord is 128 cubic feet of wood stacked tightly. This is typically stacked 4’ high by 4’ wide by 8’ long (4X4X8). (FYI reference: typical full size pick-up, bed level, will hold ˝ cord.)
(Damn, accidentally lost the link.)

Either she meant a bundle of wood, or we are going to have one heck of a bonfire.

Just bring a fagot

Oh, I'll be there, alright.

But I'm bringing more than one bundle of wood ... and I suggest everyone else do likewise. Fires, um .... burn.

Faster than you might think.

We'll probably go through a few bundles per night.

Kevy Baby 06-25-2007 07:06 PM

  • I added "Grey Water Collection" to the list.
  • I'm not bringing a razor (well, actually, there is one in my kit, but I ain't using it).
  • What the heck does one need a moleskin for?!?
  • I wonder if Erik will see that I named his team? (modified for clarification)

Why would I want a British pork meatball?

I know it was mentioned above but before trekking a metric buttload of wood out there you might want to confirm the fire rules in effect this week. When I was at Yosemite over Memorial Day I was talking to a ranger who said that this summer is expected to be really bad firewise and they would likely be implementing even stricter fire regulations than usual (at Yosemite fires are only allowed from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.). I don't know what they do at King's Canyon but the conditions are probably worse there.

You may not be allowed to burn big fires that would go through more than two bundles a night.
